A Solar Photovoltaic system (or Solar PV system) is a system which consists of a collection of Solar Panels. When the solar panels are exposed to sunlight, electricity is produced. A Solar Panels system consists of multiple components, including the photovoltaic modules, mechanical and electrical connections and mountings and the means of regulating and/or modifying the electrical output from DC Voltage to AC Voltage via a DC to AC inverter unit.

Solar panels are installed onto aluminium frames which are either ground mounted, roof mounted, wall or building mounted.

The amount of power produced by one Solar Panel is inadequate to meet requirements of a home or a business. For this reason the Solar Panel modules are linked together to form a Solar Array. Solar Panel arrays use an inverter to convert DC power produced by the Solar Panel modules into AC power that can be used within buildings. The modules in a Solar Panels array are usually first connected in series to obtain the correct voltage, then the individual strings are connected in parallel to allow the current to be increased to a useable level.

Solar panel arrays are typically measured under STC (standard test conditions) in watts, kilowatts, and megawatts. The total power output of a Solar Panel system is measured as Watts Peak ( Wp ), Kilo Watts Peak ( kWp ) or Mega Watts Peak (mWp )

In Cheshire Solar Panels installations the Solar Panels are connected to the electricity distribution system for the building. This supplies power to feed electrical loads such as lighting and general power. Surplus energy is exported into the street or national grid for the use of others or “Stand Alone Systems” which are used for buildings in locations as an alternative source of power cannot be imported from the national grid.

Domestic Cheshire Solar Panels

Domestic Solar Panels systems ranging in size from 4 kW to 5 mW, thanks to the government backed, index linked “Feed in Tariff”, return on investment (ROI) is guaranteed for 25 years.

Commercial Cheshire Solar Panels

Commercial Solar Panels installations can be found in abundant locations around the world and have become one of the leading sources of renewable energy.

On Roof Solar Panels Cheshire Systems

Depending on the type of pitched roof and type of roof tiles, a number of roof brackets are fixed firmly to the roofs structure. Once complete we ensure that the disturbed area is water tight before using these brackets as a firm fix. A series of aluminium rails are installed either horizontally or vertically to the roof to enable the secure fixing of the Solar Panels.

This is a flexible and cost effective arrangement which allows most configurations and sizes of PV panels to be attached to all roof types.

In Roof Solar Cheshire Systems

Pitched Roof Solar Panels Cheshire

A solution for tiled pitched roofs is to install an in roof system. This process involves removing the roof tiles to the Solar Panels area and installing a purpose made and bespoke trough system to the roof structure.

This system allows the Solar Array to be recessed into the roof providing, a water tight and aesthetically pleasing finish. This in turn reduces the visual impact of the solar pv system and can assist with obtaining planning permission in Cheshire areas that require special permission. This is also often an acceptable solution for listed buildings.

F.I.T Scheme

From 2010 the government backed Feed In Tariff scheme has enabled owners of grid connected Solar PV systems to be paid for producing and exporting electricity from their systems.

In 2010 the government created an incentive to encourage people in the UK to install Solar PV systems this is called the “Feed In Tariff” or F.I.T. scheme.

Owners of Domestic and Commercial Solar Panels systems are paid to produce electricity from their systems, for every unit of electricity (kWh) that is produced by the system, this is a set rate which differs depending on the size of system. A fee is paid for 50% of the electricity produced which the government assumes will be fed back into the national grid. Call us for full details of the latest rates.
